Welcome to the Tennerfest

As the Channel Islands’ premier set price food festival, the Tennerfest has been run in Guernsey every year since its inception in 1997. Running from the 1st of October to the second Monday of November, the Tennerfest allows diners to select from a set price menu at participating restaurants across the island. Prices begin at £10, hence the name, and increase at £2.50 intervals up to £20.

Given our love of food and helping customers get the best for their hard earned money, here at WhereToEat we have put together our list of favourite menus.

Hay smoked bang bang chicken with rice noodle, spring onion, cashew nut and cucumber salad with a bang bang sauce

Guernsey pork and pistachio terrine with Auberge piccalilli and toasted soda bread

Deep fried camembert rustique with a smoked bacon, red onion marmalade and apple salad

Pan fried local beef heart with a salad of pea shoot and gem lettuce, and Ravigote sauce

Chancre crab and prawn lettuce spring roll with chilli, ginger and coriander, toasted cashew nuts and pickled pink ginger

Scottish oak smoked salmon with onion, lemon and baby capers

Guernsey fish soup with a saffron mayonnaise

Seafood cocktail of chancre crab mayonnaise, smoked salmon, prawns and Marie Rose sauce

Smoked fish rillettes of mackerel, trout and salmon with a horseradish cream and cucumber gazpacho

English onion and leek soup with croutons and Guernsey blue cheese

Griddled courgette and mozzarella salad with chilli, mint, lemon oil and pine nuts


Twice cooked local pork belly with English mustard mash and apple jus

8-ounce sirloin steak with mushrooms, tomatoes, French fries and béarnaise sauce (Suppl. £2.95)

Venison and smoked bacon meatballs with parsnip mash and red onion jus

Meadow Court Farm beef burger with burger sauce and French fries

Twice cooked duck leg confit with fried noodles and a plum and spring onion sauce

Braised local Oxtail in red wine and root vegetables with Pappardelle pasta and Parmesan

Deep fried local fish in tempura batter with hand cut chips and tartare sauce

Pan-fried local fish of the day with scallion mash and basil and tomato pesto

Shellfish linguini of mussels, tiger prawns and chancre crab, with tomato, basil and chilli sauce, Parmesan and lemon and linguini past

Baked Guernsey skate en papillotte with chilli, ginger, coriander, garlic, shitake mushrooms, soy and oyster sauce, and steamed bok choi

Penne pasta with sautéed field mushrooms, grilled courgette, garlic, pine nut, rocket, cherry tomato, Parmesan, chilli and lemon

Curried pumpkin and onion brick pastry parcel with spinach, yoghurt, cumin and cucumber raita

You may only get two dishes for your money here, but with the amazing menu to choice from, as well as the stunning ocean views from the restaurant, you certainly still get great value for money.

So there you have it, a run through of some of our favourite menus on offer during this year’s Tennerfest in Guernsey. With over one hundred and nintey menus to choose from across three islands, there is no better time to visit Guernsey for a foodie holiday.
