Fine Dining Restaurants in Manchester

OK, so Manchester is best known for its youthful foodie scene and its abundance of bars and grills. So it is only natural that the fine dining scene in Manchester will twist, bend and shape to fit in with the style and setting of the area. As a result, the choice of fine dining in Manchester clearly takes its inspiration from what is popular in the rest of town, making for a truly eclectic and vibrant mix of fine dining restaurants dotted about the city. Here is a selection that we would recommend:

  • Opus One at Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester

OPUS ONE AT RADISSON BLU EDWARDIAN MANCHESTER

Free Trade Hall, Peter Street M2 5GP
    Cuisine: British
    Avg Main: £19.00
Opus One regularly do offers for pre and post theatre dinners, this is a favourite for special occasions such as anniversaries and dates. The food is all recognizable, from lasagna and salmon, steak and lobster all made to order in what is a busy and very atmospheric restaurant. Opus One also has a special secret in it’s cocktail menu, all are vibrant, fresh and positively buzzing with flavours and styles, and it is often the cocktails and the great service that keeps people coming back again and again. Very well decorated with good service and well-priced food, this is a true Manchurian fine dining experience that we highly recommend!

Micheal Caines at Abode is a restaurant set in a hotel in the City Centre, making it very easy to find. Despite its busy location, the restaurant itself is a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle as you enter into a well-decorated restaurant with views over the canal. Food is delivered in beautiful plattered arrangements of mousses, lamb shanks, steaks and soups, all bursting with fresh flavours and oozing high quality. • Panama Hatty's - Manchester City Centre

PANAMA HATTY'S - MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE

    43a Brown Street M2 2JJ
    Cuisine: Steaks & Grills
    Avg Main: £15.00
Panama Hatty’s is a lesser known restaurant and so a really good find, being a restaurant that relies primarily on word of mouth recommendations for business, rather than meal deals and heavy advertising: which says a lot about the quality as they are certainly not short of bookings! Duck, steak and ribs are all regulars on the menu, and the service and attention that is heaped upon the guests makes for a special experience. The cocktail menu is also very generous, fresh and lively in true Manchester style: a great one for a date, or intimate evening out.

  • Afternoon Tea at Great John Street Hotel

AFTERNOON TEA AT GREAT JOHN STREET HOTEL

    Great John Street M3 4FD
    Cuisine: British
    Avg Main: £17.50
Great John Street hotel is another well-kept secret of Manchester. This small hotel is a restored Old Victorian Townhouse tucked away next to Granada studios, making it a very off track and difficult to locate hotel and this has the effect of creating a very exclusive environment, where you will find some very happy diners, whose only concern is that more people have found the place! There is a feeling of camaraderie in this restaurant, as good food, a rooftop garden and a stunning view along with extremely reasonable prices all accompany the self satisfied smirks of all who find their way here. We love it!

Extremely up market, the kitchen at 47 King St West is full of well qualified chefs who see food as a personal form of artwork that must be delivered perfectly. Corn fed chick break, polenta cakes, muscles, fois gras and risotto is all part of the menu that is famous for its meat and fish.
